Recording Techniques

The drum samples used on 'T.V. Yellow' were a combination of loops constructed by R. Russell using the virtual drum editor 'Hammer Head Rhythm Station' (incorporating all his own drum sounds), and others sampled from various hiphop records. Several layers of drum samples were used to achieve the desired sound and variation.

The main guitar used was a Fender 'Stratocaster' set on the bridge pick-up, except for the chorus guitar double where a Fender 'Jazzmaster' was used. The guitar doubles performed on the 'Stratocaster' use a wah-wah pedal.

The guitars were recorded using a Polytone 'MiniBrute' amplifier with a standard dynamic 'Peavey' microphone, a 'Pandora's Box' guitar effects unit was utilised to generate the desired low gain distortion sound. The introduction to 'T.V. Yellow' is performed using a clean 'Stratocaster' again through a 'MiniBrute'.

The bass guitar used was a standard model 'Encore' bass recorded in a similar fashion to the guitar.
